How do (K)N95 Respirator Masks Protect Against Viruses that are Harmful to Human Health?
The KN95 designation means that when subjected to testing, the respirator blocks at least 95 percent of very small (0.3 micron) test particles. If properly fitted, the filtration capabilities of N95 respirators exceed those of surgical face masks. However, even a properly fitted KN95 respirator does not completely eliminate the risk of illness or death. It is important to recognize and follow all of the necessary safety processions in the most optimal way to prevent airborne transmission by implementing all necessary combinations of interventions, including the full hierarchy of proper medical measures, settings, and controls, and not just limited to wearing, Protective Personal Equipment (PPE).
